One of the greatest challenges of the future is to improve the society's capability for innovation, renewal as well as wealth creation and sustainable development. The International Helix Conference 2013 is focused on a perspective that an organisation is not only an effective production system but could also be a system for promoting learning, health, gender equality and creativity. The HELIX Vinn Excellence Centre is inviting researchers as well as practitioners and policymakers to participate in the International HELIX Conference in 2013. The conference is organised in six tracks and offers various opportunities of participation, such as scientific sessions, scientist and practitioner sessions and open discussions between researchers and practitioners.

For the program of the 21st International Conference on Health Promoting Hospitals and Health Services (HPH) in May 2013, the Scientific Committee decided to focus on approaches and tools to develop more health oriented health services. The conference will mark the 20th anniversary of the European Pilot Hospital Project of Health Promoting Hospitals (EPHP). This project came to life in 1993 with the aim to make the WHO Ottawa Charters? demand to ?reorient health services? a reality for hospitals. After 1995, the HPH conference 2013 will be the second one hosted by the Swedish HPH network. The 2013 conference will take further discussions on health gain measurement and related topics that were initiated earlier on. Top international speakers and experts and experienced HPH practitioners will be present at this conference to discuss the topics of the day.

The ENWHP encourages European employers to apply to the 1st Global Healthy Workplace Awards program. The Awards Summit will be held on April 10-12, 2013 in London. The Global Awards program follows the World Health Organization Healthy Workplace Model for Action and will recognize employers in three categories: small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), large enterprises (over 250 employess) and specialized programs (employers of all sizes who run a particularly innovative workplace health promotion program in some but not necessarily all of the components). The IAWHP serves on the advisory board. The application deadline is February 10, 2013.

Recent 10 years have brought many changes in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) systems and policies around the Baltic Sea and so the aim of the conference is to look back whether the changing policies and practices have also brought changes in workers? health and safety or in other words - have the policies been put into practice. The conference is organised by the Latvian RSU Institute of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health and will combine plenary sessions with parallel sessions on several topics as well as poster sessions. A book of conference proceedings with full text articles will be published in spring 2013.

The European Network for Workplace Health Promotion (ENWHP) organises a round table on 'Physical activity, obesity, nutrition and diabetes: interrelated challenges at the workplace' in Copenhagen (Denmark) on 12 November 2012. ENWHP presents you with three lectures during this round table: 1. ActivatEU - the Social Innovation Lab for an Active and Healthy Europe (Mr Steve Bell, NHS Health Scotland) 2. Diabetes as the hidden challenge for future WHP (Dr Kjeld Poulsen, Steno Health Promotion Centre) 3. Nutrition, physical activity and obesity & the European network for Health-Enhancing Physical Activity (Dr Joao Breda, World Health Organisation)

The overall goal of the symposium is to bring toghether physicians and scientists from diverse fields with a common interest in mechanisms operating within pathophysiology of lifestyle-related diseases and their prevention and treatments. The symposium is couple with the International C.I.A.N.S. Conference.

Collegium Internationale Activitatis Nervosae Superioris (C.I.A.N.S.) is the oldest international society in the field of behavioural neuroscience, integrative physiology and prychosomatic relations. It emphasizes an integrative approach in order to understand how and by which mechanisms psychosocial factors influence behaviour, homeostasis and health. Another goal is to support development of health care measures which could decrease death and disability from disease.

A new program hosted by the Harvard School of Public Health Center for Continuing Professional Education, which offers participants the tools they need to implement or improve an integrated workplace health promotion and occupational health program.
